Introducing Aiden Hernandez and Mountain Szn

          3,431 days. Nearly 10 years ago, I was exposed to a different side of the world and a different way of life: hunting, the outdoors, the untouched wilderness. As years passed, this experience became the root of an addiction that would fuel my life’s direction and ultimately define who I am. I’m Aiden Hernandez, and I created Mountain Szn, an outdoor recreation-themed apparel company that always stays in szn. I'm going to introduce to you who I am and how I got to where I am today.

          Growing up in Colorado, outdoor recreation is easy to come by. I’ve had my fair share of adventures from fishing trips before the sun peeks over the horizon to week-long camping trips in chunks of the Rockies I prefer just to call home. However, living in the most urban setting in Colorado, the outdoors can get lost in the fast-paced lifestyle lived by most, and it was easy to become a victim of that. When I was supposed to be listening to lectures in school or focusing on a paper I had to write for English class, I constantly found myself daydreaming the same thing…over…and over…and over again. I would see the sun gazing upon the land, my face with a pink glow from being outside from sunrise to sunset, towering jagged peaks to the South with glistening glaciers, luscious green grass carpeting the soil and capturing the sunlight, spruce trees climbing the hills filling the air with the nostalgic fresh scent of summer, and red dirt trails winding and moving with the land rarely touched by the tread of boots or tires, holding secret views not many know about. I dreamed of being outside, enjoying the land that God created. Of course, those dreams quickly began to include taking a bow or a rifle out to drop a big Muley Buck or a Bull Elk, or even hooking a big trout or a Kokanee. My thoughts would run wild of what I could be doing outside, instead of being cooped up living life in the fast lane. And for the last ten years, I had moments where I would slowly begin to live those dreams more and more, leading to a point of no return. 

          In mid-2023, I decided college was not for me. I wanted to branch out and live a life of adventure and fulfillment while also being able to make a career out of it, and of course, ideas began to come up. In late 2023, Colorado's big game rifle seasons were in full swing, leading to extended time with friends and family in the outdoors, and this was when inspiration kicked in. Just a week after playing my last high school football game ever and being blessed to guide my brother to harvesting his 1st ever muley buck, I was on a snow-filled, low successful, and sub-zero temperature Elk hunt in Colorado. Naturally, the conversation would veer off from Elk and hunting and would eventually cover the topic of life and the future and things that don't come up during the normal stress of the work week. Hunting, from what I've experienced, is one of the best ways to escape life and reflect on everything that is going on, and this trip was no exception (also mostly because we had little luck with actually finding elk so there was a lot of spare time to fill). While discussing the future, me and my dad came up with starting a business related to the outdoors and what I love. And from then on, the spark that started Mountain Szn was lit. 

          For the next year, conversations were heavy on how it would work, ideas for names came and went, and eventually, Mountain Szn was formed. Driven by inspiration created by the Rocky Mountains and founded on the idea that outdoor activity is always in szn, Mountain Szn aims to supply the adventurer with outdoor apparel representing their favorite outdoor activity. Created by a high school graduate looking to share his passion with the world and someday become a well-known outdoorsman, Mountain Szn embodies the true meaning of a Small Business.
